IPL systems use hand held flash lamps to emit micro pulses of light across a broad band of visible wavelengths. By using gentle pulses of light momentarily to create heat, IPL achieves excellent long term results.
We all want clear skin, but nature has a way of sabotaging us with frustrating imperfections. Luckily Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments have been developed to treat a variety of these imperfections. IPL, like lasers, use light to treat skin conditions but is less invasive with no significant downtime. IPL improves the appearance of sun-damaged skin by treating broken capillaries, age spots, rosacea, and sun-damage. It can also be used to repair hypertrophic and hyperpigmented scars.
Charlie takes time to understand my skincare needs and concerns and then addresses them. He is personable and warm, but not chatty, letting you relax and enjoy your facial or other service. Charlie has done several facials and laser treatments for me and the results were outstanding. You will not find a more knowledgeable or able practitioner in SLC. Enjoy! (via yelp)
(sunspots, age spots, melasma and freckles)
The mechanism of pigmented lesion removal is based upon selective destruction of pigment containing epidermal skin cells. Targeted areas momentarily absorb the light and become hot. This heat breaks down the pigmentation into tiny particles which then either rise to the skin’s surface forming crusts which naturally exfoliate away within 5 – 10 days; however most of the particles are filtered away through the lymphatic system in your body within 3 weeks.
(superficial veins under the skin surface including Rosacea and spider veins)
Similar results are seen in the treatment of vascular lesions. The absorption of light and thermal action inside the blood vessels result in vasoconstriction to the vessel endothelial lining, all of which contribute to the degeneration and disappearance of any visible vessels.
Scars and Stretch Marks
Intense Pulsed Light can be used to take the redness out of scars and stretch marks. After a few treatments, scars and stretch marks will lose their noticeable pigmentation and blend in with the surrounding skin.
